Psalms 34:1 “I will bless you Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

How easy it is to replace the words “at all times”, with “in good times.”However, God calls us to praise in every season of life. In those moments when it seems impossible to think, speak, or pray– worship. When numbness has settled in your heart, open your mouth and praise. Deep sorrow has no power in Jesus name. Only you have the authority to change your perspective and praise through the storm.

When Terry Law encountered suffering after the loss of his wife he began to literally open his mouth and speak words of praise. It can be as simple as the words “I will praise you, Lord.” Speaking praise to the Lord when you are at your weakest is a beautiful act of obedience. When you are obedient to the heavenly, it spurs a movement in the mundane.

“The oil of gladness poured over my fractured, torn emotions, and I began to rejoice,” Terry Law said.

Praise will replace the spirit of heaviness, with one of joy. Because when you choose to focus on the reality of Christ, your perspective is automatically shifted into praise.
