JULY 2026 | 250 YEARS OF FREEDOM. ONE ETERNAL FREEDOM.

This July, America marks 250 years since it declared independence. For many of us, freedom is all we have ever known. We gather for worship, open our Bibles, and speak about our faith without wondering who is listening.

Across Iraq and Iran, believers live a different reality. And many of them have found a freedom that no prison, government, or circumstance can take away.

Recently, Yasmin, one of our leaders imprisoned in Iran, was granted a temporary release for several days. When we were able to speak with her, she shared something we have not been able to forget.

“God has been changing and dealing with issues in my heart.” Yasmin (*Name changed for her protection)

Today, Yasmin is back inside a prison cell, yet God is bringing freedom to places in her heart that no prison can touch. This is the power of the Gospel. It cannot be arrested. It cannot be taken.

Yasmin also told us about another believer in prison named Rania. Rania never set out to preach. She simply lived differently. The way she spoke, the peace she carried, the way she cared for the women around her. In time, they learned she was a Christian, and some said that once released, they wanted to follow Jesus too. It was not her words first. It was her love, her joy, her peace.

A Look Inside The Region

  • Iran

    • Roughly 90 million people, where the government claims near-total Muslim adherence.
    • Ranked among the ten most difficult nations on earth to follow Christ. (Open Doors World Watch List 2026)
    • Yet home to one of the fastest-growing Churches in the world. (Joshua Project)

    Iraq

    • A Church present since the first century, once numbering around 1.5 million before 2003.
    • Today fewer than one in a hundred Iraqis is Christian. (U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom)
    • Nearly 80 percent of those who remain have taken refuge in a single region of the country.

THE THREE EXPRESSIONS OF ONE ETERNAL FREEDOM

I. Freedom to Follow Christ:  Strengthening believers, supporting leaders, and helping the Church keep sharing the Gospel in the hardest places to follow Jesus.

II. Freedom from Suffering: Through mobile medical clinics, families receive practical care, compassion, and hope where healthcare is scarce.

III. Freedom through Opportunity: English classes, computer training, and education are helping young people rebuild hope and a future.

What Your Partnership Makes Possible

This July, your gift to the Freedom Appeal is not directed to a single project. It strengthens the whole of the work across Iraq and Iran, expressed in three ways:

  • Standing with persecuted believers and their families through the Persecution Fund, providing real, practical support to those arrested or under pressure for their faith.
  • Bringing practical care and the love of Christ through mobile medical clinics in communities where healthcare is limited.
  • Opening doors of opportunity through computer, English, kindergarten, and other programs in Iraq.

July Freedom Appeal Goal: $168,000

Give to the Freedom Appeal
$50 helps provide practical support and encouragement to persecuted believers.
$150 helps provide medical care and the Gospel through mobile clinics.
$500 helps expand computer, English, kindergarten, and other programs in Iraq.
$1,000+ helps strengthen multiple ministry initiatives where the need is greatest.
