We talk often about the lives that are changed on account of a single Bible. But have you ever wondered how these Bibles made their way into the hands of 215,000+ people in a nation that is 99% Muslim? Recently, we spoke directly to a few of the people responsible for distributing the Bibles that World Compassion sends.
On the surface, they may look like ordinary people. Mothers, fathers, businessmen, students… But these individuals are laser-focused on a Kingdom mission. They are carriers of the Gospel – a church on the move. Bibles are like our cell phones… We don’t leave home without one,” an Iranian pastor shared. It’s the indigenous church in Iran that is distributing the Gospel through one-on- one, personal encounters!
When a shipment of Bibles arrives in Iran, they are distributed to local churches who then give them to trustworthy individuals throughout various cities in the country. These individuals distribute the Bibles to people they encounter, such as taxi drivers, wait staff, colleagues, and even strangers. This grassroots evangelism movement is helping to spread the message of Jesus to the furthest corners of Iran.
With the increasing demand for Bibles, the goal is to reach 100,000 people in Iran this year. By the end of 2022, this could mean an additional 100,000 people in Iran becoming carriers of the Gospel and starting a discipleship process. To achieve this, we need to raise $700,000 (£600,000) to put God’s Word in the hands of these individuals.
