Q: Jason, what stands out most to you about this season for World Compassion?
A: “There’s something new brewing. A new day is coming. We’ve made key decisions that will shape the next chapter of our ministry. From a new school launch in Myanmar and expanded programs in Iraq, to a video-based discipleship curriculum now being translated into multiple languages, there’s a sense of renewed vision and purpose. Going into our 57th year, God is breathing new life into the ministry. Some really exciting things are ahead, and I look forward to sharing more in the coming months.”
Goal: $17,650 to finish Year 1
Impact: Christ-centered education for 22+ students; opening doors for families to encounter the Gospel.
Goal: $50 per student
Impact: 280+ lesson curriculum equipping future church leaders and mission workers.
Q: You’ve described an intensity rising. What do you mean by that?
A: “When truth is challenged and the Church is oppressed, intensity rises. Difficulties sharpen us, creating an edge that breaks complacency, awakens passion, and motivates us to press forward to advance the message of Jesus.”
Q: How are we helping pastors lead through turmoil and uncertainty in Iran?
A: “Every week, we’re on Zoom with our leaders there — these are not just names on a screen, but friends we meet with in person throughout the year. The church is going through the fire, but they know they’re not alone. We walk through it with them, reminding them that God is in the fire as well. Encouragement builds courage — and that’s what many in the church need today.”
Goal: $112,560 to fully fund
Impact: 268-lesson video curriculum for discipleship in Iran & Afghanistan.
Goal: $9/person reached
Impact: Over 328,000 Bibles delivered despite persecution and conflict.
Q: Iraq continues to be a major focus. What’s happening there right now?
A: “Everything we do in Iraq empowers the local church to reach their people for Jesus. This year, new computer and English-training courses, kindergarten, and music classes have been launched — giving people ways to rebuild their futures while opening doors to share the Gospel. Medical clinics and vocational training alone have served more than 4,500 people, trained 390 women, and seen 350 people come to faith in Jesus. In hard spiritual soil, every life transformed is a miracle.”
Goal: Costs vary, see details above
Impact: Skills, medical care, and business support empower local churches and communities.
Q: Myanmar faced a devastating earthquake and ongoing civil war this year. How has World Compassion responded?
A: “Over 200 local churches using our ABC Discipleship curriculum mobilized as first responders, delivering food, supplies, and prayer to over 600 families initially, and another 1,500 families later in the year. The influence of local churches became evident — God has given us hands and feet ready to go the moment opportunity arises. We’re doing the same this Christmas to reach even more people.”
Impact: Local churches serving as first responders in disasters and multiplying ministry impact.
Q: In China, persecution is at its highest in decades. How are we continuing to help build the Church?
A: “We have had to be more careful with communications. Pastors are now brought out of China for annual leadership summits, training 50+ leaders each time. At last year’s gathering, we received 2,600 requests for discipleship materials. These resources are lifelines when online Christian content is illegal — and we must continue to get Bible, leadership, pastoral, and missions training into the hands of the Church.”
Goal: $75,000 per event (50 pastors)
Impact: Safe training and discipleship for persecuted pastors.
Q: Cuba’s situation remains difficult. How is the Church growing there?
A: “Despite shortages and restrictions, the Gospel is flourishing. A shipment of food reached 1,100 families, resulting in 140 salvations. We continue helping pastors like Javier and Daisy, who have faithfully led outdoor congregations, to build safe, enclosed church structures. It’s an honor to stand with pastors who refuse to quit.”
Goal: $20,300 to complete Pastor Javier & Daisy’s church expansion
Impact: Local churches serving as first responders in disasters and multiplying ministry impact.
