This Christmas, World Compassion is targeting 10,000 people (2,100 families) with the Gospel in restricted nations like Iran, Iraq, and Myanmar.
All of these families will be reached through one-on-one evangelism through our partner churches.
We’ll be sending local teams out with Christmas packages serving unreached and underprivileged families—most have never heard the Gospel before.
It reminds me of what Paul challenged the church in Rome with:
But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15)
As 2024 comes to a close, there has been a lot happening on the world’s stage. Here in the U.S. we’ve had a major election along with two devastating hurricanes. The world continues to watch to see how the conflict with Iran and Israel will unfold, all while the war in Ukraine and the civil war in Myanmar drag on. All of these can impact the globe and only magnify the inflation we’re all experiencing.
For some, these types of events leave people with questions about the future, anxiety and even fear. Humans are naturally wired to react to threatening situations in one of three ways—fight, flight, or freeze.
Fear and anxiety from the state of ‘our world’ could leave many locked up in a place of indecision. We have a tendency to freeze or grip tightly to what we see out of fear of making a mistake or losing what we have.
I want to encourage you this Christmas season to choose a different reaction.
Instead of freezing up at the risk of doing nothing, take time to pause instead. Pause and remember that Jesus is King, He is Lord, He is never blindsided or surprised, He is still on the throne, He guides, and He still provides. Then respond in your giving as you feel directed by Him with boldness and confidence that He continues to meet all of our needs according to His riches.
Remember Jesus left us with the gift of peace! He leads us by His peace. (Phil. 4:6-7, Col. 3:15)
