In Cuba, building a church is prohibited, so gatherings are relegated to the private homes of pastors. But with limited space and poor construction, these homes aren’t necessarily fit for church gatherings.
These makeshift sanctuaries often fail to meet the needs of existing congregations and certainly don’t make room for growth.
Pastors are allowed to build extensions onto their homes to host larger house church gatherings, sometimes with over 100 people in attendance. But with monthly wages averaging just $50 per month, churches cannot expand fast enough to handle all the people who are coming.
An urgent need exists to help pastors expand their homes and create suitable worship environments for all ages and to equip them with the resources and support they need to reach their communities with the love of Jesus.
World Compassion helps pastors acquire property, build, and expand their facilities to house more people as the Cuban church continues to grow.
