From Iran: A Story You Need To Hear

Mohsen is a 57-year-old grave digger. He lives in Iran and has spent years surrounded by death, terrified that when his time came, no one would even show up for him. He tried everything—prayer, fasting, good deeds—but the fear never left him.

Then one day, he noticed something strange at a funeral. Everyone was crying except one young man. Instead, this guy was whispering something under his breath, almost like he had peace while everyone else was breaking down. Mohsen assumed he was in shock, so he went over to offer his condolences. But the young man just smiled and said, “My father isn’t dead—he’s alive forever.”

At this point, Mohsen thought he was crazy. But then the guy handed him a book and said, “This will keep you from ever dying.”

Mohsen took it home and started reading. He couldn’t put it down. He read for four days straight. And by the time he finished, something had shifted. The fear that had followed him for years was gone. He called the number in the back of the book, talked to someone, and right then and there, decided to follow Jesus.

Now, every time he digs a grave, he stands over it, not with fear, but with confidence—because he knows death doesn’t have the final say.

Update From Syria

With the recent change of power in the Syrian government, the power vacuum has left minorities in the country vulnerable to attack. Radical Muslims who were controlling most of north and central Syria have been making their way through the western coast and killing Alawite Muslims and Christians.

We have received reports of ISIS in Syria going house to house and asking families about their faith. Based on their answers, men are being taken and killed. In some cases women and children have been victims of mass killings. This is very reminiscent of the type of behavior displayed by ISIS in 2014 in Iraq. This regime change and instability has left the nation in a state of no accountability.

Due to this, Syrian Christians are fleeing the coastal area, moving to Christian villages to escape the persecution that is threatening them.

Even though not all Christians are being physically threatened, many are being targeted through social persecution. We have heard reports of Christians losing their jobs and their houses for no just cause, simply because of this new regime change.

World Compassion has partnered with local pastors on the ground to bring relief to Christian families in the midst of this persecution.

Galatians 6:10 says, “Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone — especially to those in the family of faith.”

Will you take a moment to pray for our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters in Syria today?

You can help to provide aid to more Christian families in need in Syria for just $50 a package.

This provides food, supplies, medicine, Christian literature, and a connection to a local church which will serve as a lifeline in the midst of this chaos.

Are you ready to help make an impact in the Middle East?
