In late March, a 7.7 earthquake struck killing 3,600 in Myanmar. On top of the physical and economic destruction from the earthquake the Burmese people continue to struggle from a four year civil war that has people living under heavy oppression, extreme social tensions and massive inflation, all of which is pulverizing an already struggling nation.
Prior to the earthquake it was common for most people to have only 3-4 hours per day of electricity. This only grew worse the weeks following the earthquake. Access to food, water and basic supplies has grown even harder. The burden is heavy.
Through our network of local churches who use our ABC Bible and Leadership curriculum in Myanmar and Mandalay specifically (near the epicenter) we were able to respond quickly, reaching thousands of people in need all while sharing the message of Jesus!
The generosity of people like you provides these churches and Bible training students the hands on ministry opportunity, to build relationships with the people they serve and the ability to follow up with them.
In terms of moving the Gospel forward by reaching those who have not heard the message of Jesus before—this is the frontlines of the action!
The Joshua Project, reports that 83.1% of the population in Myanmar is still unreached.
They further define this for us:
“An unreached or least-reached people is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group without outside assistance.”
Christians in Myanmar need your help and mine to move the Gospel forward!
In addition, Myanmar is a part of the 10/40 Window where most unreached people reside. Yet, for every $100,000 Christians make globally only $1.83 goes to reaching nations in the 10/40 window. Or as we have shared before only $.01 of every $1 given goes to reaching unreached people groups within this region.
As we have stated before, the areas of greatest opportunity to reach those who have not heard about Jesus are the least funded.
Your giving today and ongoing partnership can help turn the tide. Together we can reach the unreached.
World Compassion is opening a brand new school in Myanmar reaching and empowering the next generation. This school will truly allow our Christian staff to transform the lives of students and their families through a Christian education and Bible teaching. We will be reaching Buddhist families through this school. You can learn more details here.
We have roughly $90,000b remaining to fully fund
Phase 1 of this school.
Due to the lack of power in Myanmar one of the greatest needs we have for the school is to purchase the solar power system. This is roughly $15,000c of the balance needed.
Would you consider giving a special gift today to help transform the lives of kids and their families through education?
Through our ABC Discipleship and Leadership training curriculum we are establishing believers in their faith in God.
In addition, this curriculum is used in our full time ministry training school preparing future church planters to plant more churches.
It cost $50d to help sponsor an ABC Bible and Leadership Student. This covers a portion of the books and digital materials as well as the support staff to manage the program.
Will you help start the next 1,000 students?
$150 helps train 3 students
$100 helps train 2 students
How many students could you sponsor?
